As an APS6 Case Management Officer, you will manage end-to-end external review cases. The role involves interpreting legislation and policy, engaging with stakeholders, applying alternative dispute resolution methods, and representing the organisation in hearings and conferences. You’ll analyse cases, develop resolution strategies, assess risks, and prepare documentation to support effective decision-making, all while ensuring outcomes align with legislative and organisational principles.
This 12-month labour hire contract offers potential renewal and a flexible hybrid work environment (some office presence required). Australian citizenship is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertaking end-to-end case management activities, applying policies and legislation
- Communicating with internal and external stakeholders in order to provide outcomes and advice
- Collecting information and advice for effective decision-making and evidence based insights
- Applying alternate dispute resolution methods and advocacy skills, resolving applications and reviews, in keeping with the model litigant principles.
- Attending Case Conferences, Conciliations and Hearings conducted by the ART.
- Preparing documents detailing resolution options and outcomes at Case Management meetings.
- Preparing and building participant plans to reflect funded supports
- Assessing and responding to priority and risk matters, including risks that impact the individual and organisation
The ideal candidate for these roles will demonstrate:
- Previous experience within a complex case management, review or assessment based role within a sensitive setting
- Proven ability to interpret policy and apply legislation in decision-making
- Strong critical thinking and the ability to make evidence-based decisions efficiency
- A strong ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders in order to achieve business objectives
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including writing executive briefs.
- An ability to work both autonomously and also within a team setting to achieve strict tribunal deadlines
- The ability to manage a portfolio of complex and sensitive matters, and to assess and respond to changing priorities.
The following will be held in high regard in addition to the above;
- Demonstrated experience in complex case management, review, dispute resolution, or assessment within the public sector, disability, or public health industries.
- Comprehensive understanding of disability.
- Professional background in fields such as law, allied health, or claims management/insurance.
- Familiarity with administrative law proceedings.
