About the Role
A federal government client is seeking a highly capable APS5 Strategy Officer to join their dynamic team in Geelong. This is a key position responsible for supporting strategic initiatives and contributing to the delivery of policy, project, and operational priorities.
The successful candidate will exercise sound judgement and decision-making within an area of responsibility, while supporting the broader strategy team with policy advice, project coordination, and stakeholder engagement.
You will be required to manage workflow, perform a range of analytical, operational, and administrative tasks, and contribute to the successful delivery of strategic goals across the agency.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather and analyse data to develop structured insights and recommendations that support complex problem-solving within strategic projects.
- Draft briefing notes, reports, and communication materials for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including facilitating discussions with senior executives.
- Assist with regular reporting activities such as strategy updates, exception reporting, and performance tracking.
- Support the development and coordination of project plans and schedules in line with agency project management frameworks.
- Provide administrative and logistical support for stakeholder events, meetings, and communications.
- Conduct desktop research, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and prepare content to support strategic planning and initiatives.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team culture, working closely with colleagues to achieve shared outcomes.
Essential Criteria
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to break down complex problems and present practical solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience drafting clear, concise materials for various audiences.
- Ability to resolve moderately complex enquiries using sound decision-making based on policy and legislation.
- Experience in supporting project management activities including planning, scheduling, and reporting.
- Demonstrated stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships across diverse teams.
