Our Government client is seeking a high-calibre, experienced Project Manager to take a leadership role in the delivery of critical building projects across the Cairns region.

The Opportunity: Influence and Delivery
This A06 role is the primary consulting authority for project management services, requiring exceptional professional knowledge, leadership, and coordination skills. You will be accountable for the successful delivery and financial performance of a diverse portfolio of construction and maintenance projects.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-End Project Leadership
Provide high-level coordination and management of all project phases, including pre-design, design, documentation, contract administration, and post-construction activities.
Ensure the building product delivered meets the client’s quality, scope, time, cost, and cash-flow requirements.
Manage project performance to achieve strict profitability targets and ensure contractual integrity across traditional and non-traditional contract systems.
Expert Stakeholder and Team Management
Coordinate the activities of diverse groups, including internal project staff, external consultants, building contractors, and other business unit managers.
Lead high-stakes negotiations with consultants, local authorities, departmental stakeholders, and clients to identify and deliver value-for-money solutions.
Act as the primary client interface for day-to-day operational matters, ensuring clear communication and effective stakeholder management.
Financial Control and Compliance
Implement robust project governance, including generating exception reports on time and cost variances and performing project audits to verify team performance.
Assist the Principal Project Leader/Senior Project Manager in determining attainable billing fees for services and managing the client approval process for invoicing.

Proven Expertise: Demonstrable high-level skill in the effective coordination and management of complex building construction and maintenance projects, including contractual aspects.
Leadership Acumen: A proven ability to engage, communicate with, and coordinate internal and external project team members to achieve collective objectives.
Value-Add Thinking: The experience and professional knowledge required to add value to discussions and control project variances proactively.
Qualifications (Highly Regarded): While not mandatory, a relevant tertiary qualification in a discipline such as Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, Town Planning, or Quantity Surveying is highly regarded and will be a significant advantage.
