Your New Company/Role:
As a well established organisation, my client is looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Team Leader to join their team for a 3 months fixed term contract (subject to extension) - which means there will be entitlement for annual and sick leaves on a prorated basis. The role is to be based in their Liverpool NSW 2170 office. Onsite parking is provided alongside 1 day work from home flexibility.
Responsible for leading and managing accounts payable. This role ensures accurate and timely processing of all AP transactions, adherence to internal controls and compliance policies, and effective collaboration with vendors and internal stakeholders. The manager will lead, coach and develop a team of Accounts Payable, drive process improvement initiatives, optimize service delivery, and support the organization's financial operations.
About the Opportunity / Responsibilities:
Reporting to a nurturing Commercial Finance Manager; you are responsible for
- Leadership & Team Management: Lead, coach, and mentor offshore team of Accounts Payable Officers to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to meet objectives. You will also foster a positive and collaborative team environment, professionally managing conflicts and addressing performance gaps as needed
- Accounts Payable Expertise: Oversee the accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments. This includes reconciling supplier statements, verifying invoices against purchase orders, and managing invoice discrepancies. You'll also assist the team with incoming emails and managing workflow through the AP automated system.
- Process Improvement & Compliance: Drive standardization and automation of AP processes to increase efficiency and reduce errors. You'll also assist with internal and external audits and ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures.
- Vendor & Stakeholder Relations: Act as the primary point of escalation for vendor issues. You'll build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and other internal departments like procurement.
Ideal Profile
This opportunity is for someone who has experience in a similar role and has vast exposure across the accounts payable domain. You will also bring:
- Diploma or Bachelors in Accounting & Finance/equivalent qualification or relevant experience
- At least 7 years in accounts payable domain - with at least 3 years in a team leader/supervisory role
- Senior accounts payable officer is encouraged to apply if they have mentored staff under them and closely worked with offshore team alongside have extensive exposure across accounts payable domain
- A strong background in AP processes, controls and accounting principles
- Proficient in ERP systems and AP automation, Redmap experience preferable but not mandatory
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with process improvement initiatives
