In the role of Senior Communications Advisor (Delivery) you will work closely with and support the Senior Project Engagement Advisor (Delivery) to lead, manage and coordinate communications services for stakeholder and community engagement, stakeholder management, issues management, media relations and executive correspondence to support the engagement effort on the road and transport infrastructure program within the North Coast Region.
Key accountabilities include:
• Lead, manage and coordinate the region’s stakeholder and community engagement program for the delivery phase of allocated and funded projects.
• Provide tactical and operational advice to regional staff on engagement strategies and communications issues and manage the development, implementation and resolution of strategies and communications activities for allocated and funded projects in the delivery phase.
• Supervise and coordinate the work of communications officers working across a range of QTRIP funded projects in the delivery phase, including review and approval of communication material to ensure consistency of messaging across the community.
• Develop and maintain relationships with the media and key internal and external stakeholders to facilitate cooperation, coordination and enhanced communication channels and understanding of QTRIP related activities.
• Ensure appropriate governance frameworks are maintained and adhered to in order to monitor compliance with policy, legislation, regulations, standards and procedures.
• Provide training, advice and support to regional staff, consultants and contractors to enhance communication skills for delivering projects and initiatives.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions:
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
• Desirable: A current Class ‘C’ Drivers License.
• Desirable: A degree in communications, journalism or public relations.
• International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) in Engagement certification, or willingness to obtain certification independently, will also be considered favourably.
• Desirable: Experience in a strategic communication or community engagement role in an environment dealing with major infrastructure projects or programs of work, particularly in the transport or civil engineering sector.
Requirements of the role:

• Sets up connections for the team across the organisation to drive collaborative delivery of services.
• Works with the team to evaluate options and develop appropriate plans to mitigate risks.
• Uses knowledge of community engagement practices and strategies to provide high level advice to management and ensure effective community and departmental outcomes.
• Uses high level understanding of media, government and regional operations to manage and develop media resources to enhance the department’s reputation.
• Draft, edit and review communication materials across a variety of internal and external channels, tailoring the style to suit the audience and ensuring it complies with the department’s style guide, accessibility guidelines and applicable corporate standards.
• Uses understanding of government and executive correspondence techniques to develop and tailor materials to enhance and maintain stakeholder relationships.
Working Hours: Maximum of 38 hours per week between 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday. Maximum of 8 hours per day in a 5-day week.
