This is a high-impact role where you will be instrumental in fostering a strong safety culture and ensuring every project runs smoothly and safely. Your expertise will be crucial in guiding teams, implementing best practices, and transforming safety from a checklist into a core value.
Key Responsibilities
- On-site Compliance Leadership: Lead and manage WHSE compliance across all construction sites through regular and thorough audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
Culture & Training: Champion a proactive safety culture by leading safety briefings, toolbox talks, and on-site training sessions for all personnel.
Documentation & Management: Maintain and oversee all essential WHS documentation, including contractor compliance records, plant and equipment induction registers, and hazardous substances inventories.
Incident Management: Conduct detailed investigations of incidents, oversee reporting, and ensure all corrective and preventative actions are followed through to completion.
Emergency Preparedness: Maintain and enhance emergency preparedness plans, leading regular drills to ensure a rapid and effective response to any potential situation.
Performance Reporting: Track and report on WHS performance, highlighting challenges and improvements to senior management to support strategic decision-making.
Qualifications & Experience
Experience: 5-10 years of hands-on WHS experience in the construction industry, with a proven track record on multiple, complex projects.
Formal Qualifications: A Certificate IV in WHS is required. A Diploma of WHS is highly desirable.
Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of NSW WHS legislation and industry best practices. Practical experience with civil works, heavy plant, scaffolding, formwork, and managing hazardous substances is essential.
