We’re looking for a skilled Technical Officer – Structural Testing to manage and maintain structural testing labs, support teaching and research activities, and ensure lab operations meet all safety and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain structural testing and STEM labs
- Provide inductions, training, and technical advice to staff and students
- Manage equipment, documentation (SOPs, RAs), and maintenance schedules
- Ensure compliance with OH&S and University policies
- Support lab setup for teaching and research
About You:
- Strong experience in structural testing and lab operations
- Engineering or trade qualification (Cert III or above)
- Knowledge of OH&S standards and safe lab practices
- Proactive, organised, and safety-focused
- Valid Working with Children Check required
Key Selection Criteria
Experience and knowledge in the routine operation, maintenance, and training of various forms of equipment and instruments related to Structural Testing. Structural Testing includes evaluating compressive strength, shear strength, tensile strength.
Experience and knowledge in the routine operation, maintenance, and training of various forms of equipment or instruments related to designated space.
Proven knowledge and experience working within a laboratory setting of a mechanical and/or electrical engineering environment.
Proven laboratory operations and maintenance experience, preferably in a teaching or research environment.
Demonstrated understanding of current OH&S legislation with knowledge of other field or industry regulations or standards related to the field within the scope of the service area.
Qualifications
Engineering qualifications of a degree or higher and /or relevant experience or completion of a trades certificate 3 or higher and extensive experience and specialist expertise in a mechanical, electrical or industrial field.
A valid Working with Children Check is mandatory.
