Join our Melbourne City based University as a Technical Officer in Anatomical Pathology. This 6-month contract role supports operational delivery and teaching activities within our STEM College, ensuring high standards of laboratory quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
The candidate will require demonstrated experience in Anatomical Pathology laboratory practices, including strong knowledge of sourcing and validating human specimen/tissues representing a range of pathological conditions, as well as preparing simulated pathology teaching materials for teaching and learning activities. In addition, knowledge in regulatory compliance requirements, along with hands-on practical laboratory expertise in the areas outlined below. The role will support operational delivery, ensure compliance with relevant standards, and contribute to maintaining quality and safety within the laboratory environment. Key Responsibilities & Skills- Perform specimen surgical cut-up, processing, embedding, and sectioning using manual/automated microtomes.
- Conduct quality control for cytology and histology teaching slides (H&E, PAP, DQ stains).
- Prepare simulated teaching materials and maintain tissue control blocks for IHC markers.
- Manage human regulatory compliance, including ethical guidelines, data privacy, and Chain of Custody procedures.
Qualifications
You hold a degree or higher in Pathology, Histology, or a related field, complemented by hands-on laboratory experience. A valid Working with Children Check is required for this on-site position.
