Technical Data Architect (12 Month Contract) 🛠️

About the Role (What You'll Be Doing)
Due to explosive growth, an exciting 12-month contract has opened up in their elite Sydney engineering team.
As a Technical Data Architect, you will be the driving force behind global data integration. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be leading a team of engineers while maintaining end-to-end accountability for Solutioning, implementation, and problem-solving. You will design, architect, and deliver robust, enterprise-scale ETL and data warehousing platforms from concept to completion. If you thrive on turning complex business challenges into elegant data solutions, this is for you.
They urgently need an experienced architect with serious SQL and PySpark skills and a proven track record in big data integration.
Role Requirements (Emphasis on Solutioning, Implementation, and Problem Solving)
You need to have the following skill sets to excel in this role:
...Team Leadership: Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers, guiding them on best practices for data engineering, performance optimisation, and system enhancements.
Deep Solutioning Expertise: Proven experience in designing and architecting complex, high-performance ETL and data warehousing solutions in an enterprise environment.
Implementation Focus: Demonstrated ability to drive the implementation of data architecture designs, translating technical vision into working, robust data platforms.
Strong Problem-Solving Mindset: A proactive, analytical approach to identifying, diagnosing, and providing innovative solutions for complex data architecture challenges and business problems.
Experience leading significant data engineering or architecture projects in an enterprise environment.
Expertise in Big Data and Hadoop ecosystem with a main focus on Spark, Hive, Presto (or other query engines), and big data storage formats (such as Parquet, ORC, Avro).
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Bamboo/Ansible.
Experience working in a cloud-based environment (ideally AWS or GCP).
Excellent Python, SQL, and Spark development skills.
Broad knowledge of technical solutions, design patterns, and code for complex applications deployed in a distributed computing environment.
