SharePoint Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled SharePoint Engineer to join our clients in Geelong on a 12-month fixed-term contract. In this crucial hybrid role (minimum 3 days in the office), you will be the technical expert responsible for designing, building, and maintaining a robust, secure SharePoint environment aligned with our client's Enterprise Document Management System (EDMS) objectives. Your deep expertise will cover the entire ecosystem, from implementing site collections and governance structures to configuring automated document flows using the Power Platform and executing complex data migration strategies.
Key Role Accountabilities
- Building and configuring the new SharePoint environment, including tenancy-level policies, governance frameworks, and security configurations.
- Implementing site collection structures, site and folder templates, and metadata frameworks to support effective enterprise-wide information management.
- Technically implementing retention and disposition policies, automated classification schemes, and sensitivity labels using Microsoft Purview to ensure compliance with PROV standards.
- Developing and deploying Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies and processes to protect sensitive information across SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams environments.
- Designing and creating automated document and approval workflows using Microsoft Power Platform tools such as Power Automate and Power Apps to streamline business processes.
- Working collaboratively with the Information Management Analyst and project team to translate business-defined classifications and policies into robust, automated technical solutions.
- Providing technical expertise on data migration strategies, utilising appropriate Microsoft migration tools (such as ShareGate, Migration Manager, and native M365 tools) to facilitate efficient and accurate migration into the new EDMS.
- Ensuring alignment of all technical implementations with best practice Microsoft recommendations, Victorian
- Government standards
- Coordinating closely with other technical teams, including Infrastructure, Identity and Access Management (IDAM), and Cyber Security to integrate SharePoint configurations effectively across the client’s Microsoft tenancy.
- Providing technical documentation, guidelines, training support materials, and knowledge articles to facilitate smooth transition and ongoing management of the SharePoint environment.
Key Selection Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related fields, or significant relevant industry experience (5+ years).
- Demonstrated deep technical expertise in SharePoint Online, including design, build, and configuration of sites, metadata structures, templates, and site collections within complex enterprise environments.
- Proven hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview for setting automated data classification, retention labels, sensitivity labels, and disposition policies aligned to compliance standards such as PROV.
- Extensive experience in configuring Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies and advanced security measures within SharePoint and M365 environments.
- Demonstrable experience designing, implementing, and optimising automated business workflows and document management solutions using Microsoft Power Platform (particularly Power Automate and Power Apps).
- Solid understanding of data migration best practices and extensive hands-on experience using Microsoft data migration tools and methodologies (e.g., ShareGate, Microsoft Migration Manager).
- Experience working within Agile and DevOps frameworks, with strong proficiency in Azure DevOps for managing configurations, releases, and deployments.
- Familiarity with the Victorian Government information management standards, particularly PROV record keeping standards and Retention and Disposal Authorities.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, documentation, and communication skills with a proven ability to produce detailed technical documentation and knowledge articles.
