... The Role
As the Senior Payroll Officer, you will be a subject matter expert (SME) responsible for maintaining the integrity of the payroll function. Duties will include:
- Manage and execute accurate end-to-end payroll processing for a diverse workforce of up to 3,000 headcount across five states.
- Administer two distinct payroll runs ensuring timing and compliance benchmarks are met.
- Partner closely with P&C to ensure seamless alignment between on-boarding data and industrial instrument interpretation.
- Act as a technical lead and mentor to a Payroll Officer, fostering a culture of accuracy and continuous improvement.
- Apply expert knowledge to accurately calculate complex final entitlements and settlement figures, ensuring strict associated regulatory and tax compliance.
- Play a critical role in an upcoming HRIS migration scheduled within the next two years, assisting with data integrity and process mapping.
About You
- A devoted payroll specialist who "gets the why" behind the data, someone who is not just a processor but a strategic thinker ready to advance their career.
- Minimum of 3+ years in a similar Senior Payroll position within a high-volume, multi-state environment.
- A strong background in tier-one payroll systems and the ability to adapt to new technology is essential.
- A deep understanding of Australian payroll legislation, including Payroll Tax, Superannuation Guarantee requirements, and Fair Work compliance.
- A proactive, resilient professional who thrives in a "flux" environment and is motivated by the prospect of improving payroll health.
- The ability to step up into higher-level duties and act as a primary point of contact for payroll queries and audits.
