About the Role
Our client is a VIC government organisation based in the Melbourne CBD. They are urgently seeking a Senior Payroll Advisor to come in and assist them on a 3 month temp assignment with potential for extension.
Candidates for this role must have:
- Payroll leadership experience
- 5-10 years experience in running and leading BAU payroll functions.
- Recent experience with small scale payroll processing - 150-200 staff maximum (Essential)
- Previous government and private sector experience (Desirable)
- ADP system experience (Desirable)
Key responsibilities include:
- Systems & Data Integration: Act as the primary conduit ensuring the seamless, accurate, and timely transition of data between HR systems, Finance systems, and the external payroll provider.
- Payroll Delivery & Quality Assurance: Lead the end-to-end reconciliation of data and quality-check processes to ensure the delivery of accurate, timely, and efficient payroll services.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Maintain accurate employee records aligned with leading payroll principles; proactively identify, escalate, and assist in resolving operational risks and compliance issues.
- Cyclical Reporting & Auditing: Execute and complete regular monthly, quarterly, and annual cyclical activities—including Superannuation, Taxation, and Workcover while participating in rigorous data quality audits.
- Stakeholder Support & System Training: Provide responsive, confidential, and customer-centric support to internal and external stakeholders, resolving complex inquiries and training staff on Self-Service systems.
- System Testing & Upgrades: Participate in comprehensive system and process testing for payroll software upgrades, patches, and new platform releases as required.
- Strategic Problem Solving & Cultural Safety: Identify emerging sensitive issues, risks, and trends to develop innovative solutions, while actively practicing and promoting a culturally safe environment free from discrimination.
About You
You will be a highly experienced Payroll Advisor with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.
The successful candidate will possess:
