Role Purpose
The Senior Donor Liaison Officer is responsible for coordinating and responding to donation offers of collection material. The role assesses potential acquisitions according to policy and procedure. A core function is to liaise with donors and develop relationships for building and stewarding the State Library collections.
Key Outcomes of Role
Respond to offers of donation in a timely manner and following established procedure
Assess potential acquisitions using existing policy and procedure to determine suitability for inclusion in the collection, and make recommendations.
Liaise with relevant stakeholders to ensure donor agreements are received and completed.
Search the Library’s catalogue to find existing records.
Lead the administration required to bring collection material into the Library and manage the offer-to-receipt process.
Work with other teams as required to manage specialised acquisitions.
Provide information to staff, groups, and colleagues to ensure understanding of the Library’s acquisitions procedures.
Provide quality, customer focused information and research services as required.
Essential Skills:
Demonstrated ability to build relationships, collaborate, and engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated knowledge of, or ability to apply principles for, collecting heritage material.
Familiarity with copyright and other rights management including Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP).
Demonstrated experience in the use of systems and databases, and experience in the application of technology.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with key stakeholders, both internal and external.
High level of initiative in accomplishing objectives and undertaking projects.
