The Opportunity
Job Title: Senior Community Engagement Officer
Classification: ASO6
Type of Appointment: Term (Full-Time, 37.5 hours/week)
Location: Flexible – Glenside, Adelaide CBD, or the River-land.
Salary: $98,000 - $104,000 + Super
This specialist role sits within the Communications and Digital Services Branch. You will be the primary interface between the community and the Agency's critical horticultural protection efforts in the River-land region. The focus is on engaging community members and local stakeholders, building local engagement, and establishing the conditions for widespread community behaviour change to safeguard the state’s vital primary industries.
Key Responsibilities
As our Senior Community Engagement Officer, you will:
Design & Execute Strategy: Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate effective community engagement strategies specifically related to high-priority bio security issues and the SA River-land community.
Build Trust & Manage Risk: Proactively identify, analyse, and mitigate strategic issues and risks that could impact public reputation and trust, requiring high-level initiative and diplomacy.
Strengthen Partnerships: Build and expand critical partnerships with community organisations, local government, industry groups, and educational sectors to achieve shared program goals.
Mediate & Resolve: Manage conflicting views and sensitive issues, using tact and empathy to reach mutually beneficial and agreed-upon outcomes that meet the needs of both industry and the Agency.
Interface: Act as a primary interface between the community and the Agency on the management of high-priority biosecurity outbreaks.
What We're Looking For (Requirements)
Proven Expertise: Depth of experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating community outreach and engagement strategies, programs, and activities.
Strategic Engagement: Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of contemporary communication and community engagement principles and practice (preferably including the IAP2 framework).
High-Level Stakeholder Management: Exceptional ability to build rapport, maintain productive working relationships, and communicate effectively with a diverse range of people, demonstrating competence in dealing with sensitive issues.
Logistics: Possession of a current driver’s licence and a willingness to undertake out-of-hours work and inter/intrastate travel.
IAP2 Certificate in Engagement.
A tertiary qualification in Communications or a related field.
