The role of the Senior Cloud Technical Architect is to act as a subject matter expert. You will provide technical leadership for the platform in both the Project and BAU space, helping to identify where adoption of new or existing
cloud services can be used to better meet the needs of the Department. You will provide high-level technical support for the platform, dealing with the more complex technical problems.
Note: The position requires the successful applicant to be an Australian citizen and possess,
a security clearance at the Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) level as an eligibility qualification for the position.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Be a promoter/evangelist of the cloud platform for the Department, who works with IT professionals and other related team members to design, build, and execute new cloud services across the Territories multiple cloud environments.
- Be a champion for continuous development and improvement across the platform.
- Represent the interests of Digital Canberra at the Architectural Review Board, reviewing Conceptual Designs put forward by other areas and developing and presenting Conceptual Design for Digital Canberra as required.
- Provide technical leadership across large and complex projects within the cloud space.
- Serve as a subject matter expert providing consultation services to technical staff, project teams and stakeholders including senior management on the cloud platform.
- Provide high level technical support in two or more current versions of the following products:
- Azure / AWS / VMWare Cloud technology platforms
- Azure DevOps
- Microsoft Server Operating Systems 2016/2019/2022/2025
- Unix operating systems such as Redhat, Solaris
- Infrastructure automation – ARM Templates, BiCEP, Ansible, Terraform
- Data Analytics – Azure Fabric, Synapse and Datalake, DataFactory, DataBricks, MapR, Apache
- Containers – Kubernetes, Azure Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, Nomad, OpenStack, OpenShift
- M365 Technologies, particularly Power Platform including Dynamics
- Implementing and administering Azure Active Directory
- Integrating on-premises Active Directory with Azure AD and Access Management (IAM)
- Creation and configuration of Azure Application Registrations
- Configuration of modern identity solutions such as Azure AD B2B & B2C
- Provide high level technical support for on-line maintenance, fault diagnosis and the identification and implementation of remedial action including identification of new areas and business processes where cloud services can be leveraged to continual process improvement.
- Assist in the development of support processes for cloud-based services including configuring and maintaining portals, sites, pages, document libraries and associated access control.
- Working as a team member, assisting to ensure that the quality of service delivered to clients meets or exceeds expectations as well as liaising with both internal clients and external suppliers to ensure services are provided to the standard required.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with peers at Microsoft and other key Partners/Vendors/Technical Teams.
