SAP SCM Functional Specialist – Medical & Dental Equipment (MDE)

A consulting business is seeking an experienced SCM Functional Specialist – Medical & Dental Equipment (MDE) to provide senior functional leadership across supply chain, procurement, and inventory processes for regulated healthcare equipment environments. This role focuses on designing, optimising, and supporting SAP S/4HANA MM processes to ensure compliance, cost efficiency, and service continuity.
The role is open to candidates based in Sydney, Melbourne, or Canberra, with an expectation to work onsite in the closest office 2–3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
Lead design, configuration, testing, and deployment of SAP S/4HANA MM processes for medical and dental equipment
Provide expert advice across sourcing, purchasing, inventory control, replenishment, and supplier management
Analyse and optimise MDE supply chain processes to improve cost, reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance
Manage master data for materials, suppliers, equipment records, and catalogues in line with SAP governance
Collaborate with procurement, clinical engineering, logistics, and finance teams to support demand planning and fulfilment
Support integration between SAP MM and related modules including WM/EWM, PM, SD, and Ariba
Lead requirements workshops and translate business needs into functional specifications
Support system testing, UAT, training, and go-live activities
Develop SOPs, user guides, and training materials for equipment procurement and inventory processes
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support audit and compliance activities
Act as senior escalation point for complex operational or SAP MM–related issues
Skills and Experience
Strong background in supply chain or procurement within medical, dental, or healthcare equipment environments
Advanced functional expertise in SAP S/4HANA Materials Management (MM)
Experience with equipment catalogues, asset tracking, and regulated device supply chains
Knowledge of Australian procurement regulations and healthcare equipment compliance requirements
Proven ability to run workshops, design processes, and deliver SAP functional solutions
Experience working across cross-functional clinical, logistics, and technology teams
Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills
Ability to operate independently at a senior specialist level
Qualifications
Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Engineering, Health Technology Management, Business, or a related discipline
SAP MM or S/4HANA certification is preferred
Healthcare supply chain or biomedical equipment logistics certifications are desirable
Security Requirements
Australian Citizenship is required
Baseline Security Clearance is mandatory
NV1 clearance is highly regarded
