SAP Finance Lead | Permanent | Melbourne
A large, well-known Australian retail organisation is looking for an experienced SAP Finance Lead to join a small, high-performing team on a permanent basis. This is a backfill role with a structured handover from the outgoing incumbent, and sits at the centre of an upcoming S/4HANA transformation program.
You'll be the go-to for SAP Finance across a live ECC environment while a new S/4HANA platform is being built alongside you. The first 12 months are heavily ECC-focused, so depth in that environment matters more than S/4 exposure right now.
What you'll be doing
- Owning BAU support and stability for the existing SAP ECC Finance environment
- Liaising with senior business finance stakeholders and supporting onboarding of new entities onto the platform
- Governing the S/4HANA implementation from a finance perspective, including requirements validation and integration oversight
- Managing the relationship with an offshore delivery team
- Participating in testing and training activities as the new platform matures
- Supporting a small number of AI-related finance initiatives
- Leading two direct reports within the finance function
What we're looking for
- Strong hands-on SAP Finance functional expertise, FI/CO in an ECC environment is essential
- Proven ability to interrogate data and understand system architecture
- Experience governing or overseeing work delivered by a system integrator or offshore team
- Demonstrated stakeholder management skills, including working with senior finance leaders
- Previous team leadership experience, even if small-scale
- Exposure to S/4HANA environments is a bonus, but not required at this stage
- Background in retail, consumer goods, FMCG, or health-adjacent industries will be well regarded
- SAP Finance (FI/CO) or S/4HANA Finance certification advantageous
