Are you an experienced Project Manager with a background in complex civil or maritime infrastructure? This is a high-impact contract opportunity to lead the design and delivery of crucial public boating facilities in Queensland, with a primary focus on the New Shute Harbour Boating Infrastructure Project (SHBIP).
This role offers a unique chance to work on a significant project involving coastal engineering, extensive stakeholder management, and high-level government compliance.
The Role: Lead Project Delivery 🚢
Based in Brisbane (3 days per week in the office) with occasional travel to the site, you will be the driving force behind public boating infrastructure projects. Your core responsibility is to ensure projects are delivered within time, quality, cost, and stakeholder expectations, adhering to established government project management principles.
Key Accountabilities Include:
- Project Leadership: Lead projects relating to the design and delivery of public boating infrastructure across Queensland.
- Planning & Governance: Develop comprehensive project documentation, including project budgets, schedules, risk registers, and procurement plans, in accordance with Transport and Main Roads (TMR) project management principles.
- Technical Management: Advise on site suitability, develop concept designs and budget estimates, and commission/manage consultants for technical and coastal engineering studies.
- Stakeholder & Government Liaison: Negotiate and liaise with state/local government, industry, and community groups. Prepare high-level correspondence, including ministerial briefs and reports.
- Financial Oversight: Manage project finances, including cash flows, forecasting, and monthly expenses using the department's project management system (3PCM/Unifier).
Project Focus: Shute Harbour Boating Infrastructure (SHBIP)
Upon award, your primary focus will be managing the design and consultation stages of the New SHBIP, which includes the construction of a new boat ramp facility, floating walkways, and a protective breakwater. You will manage the design consultant procurement and oversee the consultation process, working closely with stakeholders like Whitsunday Regional Council and other Queensland Government agencies.

- Extensive experience leading design and delivery projects, particularly in infrastructure or coastal engineering.
- Thorough understanding and application of departmental (TMR/MSQ) project management methodologies and contract standards.
- Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, consultants, and contractors.
- Strong financial management skills, including experience with cash flows and forecasting.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills for engaging with government, industry, and the public.
