A leading consulting business is seeking an experienced Project Manager – Complex Programs to lead the delivery of large-scale, high-impact initiatives across complex environments. This role suits a senior project professional who is comfortable operating with autonomy, strong governance expectations, and senior stakeholder engagement.
The role is open to candidates based in Sydney, Melbourne, or Canberra, with an expectation to work onsite in the closest office 2–3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end delivery of complex, multi-stream programs with significant strategic and operational impact
Establish and manage robust program governance in line with organisational and government frameworks
Develop and maintain integrated schedules, budgets, risk registers, and resource plans
Identify, assess, and mitigate program-level risks and interdependencies
Manage senior stakeholder relationships, including executives, cross-functional teams, and external partners
Provide clear, evidence-based advice and insights to senior decision-makers
Ensure delivery of agreed outcomes within scope, time, cost, and quality constraints
Prepare high-quality reporting, business cases, briefings, and status updates
Oversee procurement and contract management activities where required
Drive continuous improvement, change management, and benefits realisation
Lead and mentor project teams to foster high performance and collaboration
Skills and Experience
Demonstrated experience delivering complex, large-scale programs or projects
Strong governance and risk management capability
Proven ability to manage senior executive stakeholders
Excellent planning, analytical, and organisational skills
Experience working in government, regulated, or highly complex environments
Working knowledge of project delivery methodologies (PMBOK, PRINCE2, Agile)
Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work autonomously in high-impact environments
Qualifications
Tertiary qualification in Project Management, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline
Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, MSP, Agile) highly desirable
Security Requirements
Australian Citizenship is required
Baseline Security Clearance is mandatory
NV1 clearance is highly regarded
