Key Responsibilities
As a Project Engineer, you will be crucial in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget, all while building and maintaining effective partnerships.
đź‘· Project Delivery & Management
Assist with the management and delivery of capital works projects using an appropriate project management methodology.
Ensure all projects meet stakeholder, customer, and sponsor requirements, adhering to allocated budgets, timeframes, and relevant design standards and legislation.
Manage and administer contracts, including processing contractor progress claims and assessing variation claims fairly and accurately.
Manage project budgets, complete required financial reporting, and ensure all financial approvals are in place.
Conduct and coordinate project risk assessments, track progress, and provide accurate reporting.
Ensure commissioning and handover of assets is planned, executed efficiently, and operational teams are prepared and equipped.
🛡️ Safety, Quality & Compliance
Be a leader in fostering a safety-focused culture, ensuring all activities by you and contractors are carried out safely and comply with relevant safety Acts and Legislation.
Ensure all projects adhere to relevant legislation, industry standards, and organisational policies and procedures.
Ensure As-Constructed information is accurate and complete.
🤝 Stakeholder Engagement
Effectively engage with, build, and maintain professional relationships with delivery partners, local councils, other utilities, government organisations (e.g., VicRoads), customers, and affected residents.
Contribute to high customer satisfaction and ensure project issues are addressed and resolved without escalation.
Essential Skills & Experience
Degree in Engineering (relevant discipline) or equivalent.
Demonstrated Project Management experience, particularly in the planning, design, or construction of civil/utility assets (preferably water/wastewater).
Proven experience in managing safety on construction sites and/or maintenance workplaces.
Strong background in working effectively with contractors and field personnel.
Experience in contract management and administration.
Technical knowledge in Engineering Design and Standards, Health and Safety, and Environmental Management.
Desirable Experience
Management of construction contracts (e.g., AS 4000, AS 2124).
Experience in financial/budget management, cost control, accurate forecasting, and accruals.
Experience working with regulators to obtain necessary construction permits.
