About the Role
Reporting to the Manager Operations, Payroll and Systems, this is a unique hybrid role that blends technical system enhancement with hands-on payroll support. You will be the go-to specialist for the Chris21 system, looking at backend functionality, setting up new screens, and exploring new system capabilities.
You will also be a team player, willing to provide hands-on support to the Payroll Officers to ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll, particularly during peak periods (as a back-up).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support and backup for fortnightly payroll processing, reporting, and month/year-end processes.
- Prepare and process superannuation and payroll tax lodgements and payments.
- Manage the delivery of allocated Chris21 system changes, implementations, and initiatives.
- Support EOFY processes, upgrades, and updates, including backend system testing in DEV, UAT & PROD environments.
- Identify, understand, and adapt processes and systems to legislative and Enterprise Agreement changes.
- Develop and update user documentation and procedures, providing user training as required.
- Provide hands-on support to the payroll team as required.
- Assist the P&C team with report requirements, including internal and external audits.
Skills & Experience Required
- Significant experience and knowledge of Chris21 and/or iChris system is essential.
- Ideally, experience with the backend of Chris21, such as setting up new screens, implementing new functionality, or system testing.
- Extensive experience in processing end-to-end payrolls, including Month End, EOFY processing, and STP.
- Sound knowledge of Australian Payroll Legislation and Enterprise Agreement interpretation.
- A collaborative, hands-on approach and willingness to support the payroll team with processing duties when required.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse issues and identify workable solutions.
- We are also open to applications from experienced Senior Payroll Officers who have a strong interest in developing their payroll systems (Chris21) capabilities.
