About the Role
Our client are a VIC State government organisation based in the Melbourne CBD. They are currently seeking a Payroll Advisor to come in and join their team on a permanent full time basis.
Candidates for this role must have:
- Strong knowledge and experience with CHRIS21 payroll system (Essential)
- Proven high-volume payroll processing experience
- Previous Local, State, or Federal government experience
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- End-to-End Payroll Management: Execute high-volume, fortnightly payroll operations from start to finish with absolute precision and timeliness.
- Legislative Compliance & Reporting: Ensure all operations strictly adhere to statutory requirements, including Payroll Tax, Single Touch Payroll (STP), and QuickSuper contributions.
- Expert Agreement Interpretation: Act as a subject matter expert by providing accurate interpretations of the VPS Enterprise Agreement and other relevant industrial instruments.
- Complex Entitlement Calculations: Manage and calculate intricate employee provisions, specifically focused on Long Service Leave (LSL) and other detailed leave entitlements.
- Stakeholder Support & Inquiry Resolution: Serve as a professional point of contact for payroll and HR-related queries, resolving issues promptly for employees and management.
- Process Improvement & Project Support: Contribute to the evolution of the department by participating in projects and initiatives designed to streamline and automate payroll workflows.
- Team Collaboration: Work cohesively within your immediate unit and the broader Strategic Corporate Services team to ensure integrated service delivery.
About You
You will be an experienced Payroll Advisor with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Extensive knowledge and experience with CHRIS 21 (mandatory).
- Exceptional attention to detail, a strong outcomes focus, and the ability to take accountability for results.
- Experience in high-volume payroll processing and effective time management.
- Comprehensive payroll expertise, including experience working within the Victorian Government framework.
- Excellence in customer service.
