Expression of Interest: Naval Architects
Randstad Defence is seeking expressions of interest from skilled Naval Architects to join our partners, leading Defence Primes in Australia.
We are looking for talented and driven Naval Architects to contribute to high-performance, high-reliability systems for a variety of military applications. You will have the opportunity to work alongside experts in collaborative environments where innovation, integrity, and impact are paramount.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will vary based on specific projects, but may include:
- Providing front-line engineering support, including issue investigation and problem resolution, design change planning and implementation, commissioning and operations, and coordination of ongoing maintenance and repairs.
- Undertaking engineering analysis & investigations related to asset performance & optimisation, maintenance & defect repairs and obsolescence.
- Conducting naval architecture design activities such as General Arrangement, concept design, weight control, stability, seakeeping, manoeuvring, and ship performance.
- Supporting maintenance planning, delivery, and close-out for Capability Enterprise.
- Evaluating technical risks in the Defence Technical Risk/Regulatory Management System and providing seaworthiness assurance.
...About You
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Naval Architecture) or Mechanical Engineering with relevant maritime experience.
- Proven skills and experience in an engineering or marine environment working as a technical specialist in a field engineering or systems engineering role.
- Experience in conducting engineering investigations, analysis, and writing reports.
- Experience in complex technical engineering projects preferably gained in the Marine or Defence sectors.
- Demonstrated knowledge of working with standards, rules and regulations including Ship Class, Australian, European and US Military standards.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, produce reports and operate with an eye for detail.
- Knowledge and experience of Naval Architectural calculations, vessel outfit and the requirements for equipment integration, preferably Naval Ships and with direct shipyard experience.
- Australian Citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance (Negative Vetting 1 - NV1 preferred).
