Duties
● Working as part of the mechanical team
● Execute tasks defined as being of a Mechanical function within Production to ensure delivery in line
with the Manufacturing Plan
● Carry out tasks both on-board the Naval Vessel and within a workshop environment
● Undertake tasks as described within Mechanical Job Cards and complete associated documentation
to capture job progress
● Ensure time keeping accuracy by booking to correct Job Cards
● Interpret and utilize complex technical drawings
● Comply with required Quality and Technical directions contained within Job Card Work scopes and
Process Instructions
● Ensure that all equipment and areas used are maintained in a safe and organised manner
● Understand and abide by Safety Policies and associated documentation such as Take 5, Standard Operating Procedures and Risk Assessments and help to create a safe working environment for all employees
● Work on tasks as part of a workgroup and individually
● Work with Apprentices and oversee their skills and development as appropriate
● Interaction with other Trade Groups and Business Functions to enable delivery of the Program
● Undertake training as deemed appropriate for the role
Skills & Experience
● Australian Citizenship
● Australian Recognised Trade Certificate – Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting)
● National Police Clearance within 3 months - or willing to obtain one
● Confined space ticket
● Must be eligible to apply for Australian Defence Security Clearance
● NSSIC Clearance (Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Identification Card)
● International Traffic in Arms (ITAR) Regulations
Clearances
As a defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and either possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearances.
