About the Role
The Manager of Venues Delivery will report to the Director of Venues and will play a key role in the Venue Management team in the coordination, planning and delivery of all aspects of Games venue and event planning. This role will ensure that Games requirements can be delivered at the seventeen new and upgraded venues, and the numerous other existing and temporary competition venues that will be used at Games-time.
As Brisbane 2032 grows and Games time approaches, the responsibilities of this role will evolve, depending on changing priorities of the Venue Management functional area, Venues Department and the wider Games Delivery Division.
Key Responsibilities
... - Seek, coordinate and capture specialist venue, sport and Games operational delivery technical advice to assist with the evaluation of selected Games venues by identifying and capturing challenges, risks and opportunities.
- Represent Brisbane 2032 in delivery partner capital build design working groups and planning meetings to ensure the venues are designed to be fit for purpose and to optimise Games-time operations.
- Input into the development and delivery of frameworks for venue operational planning, considering the different types of venues and requirements, as well as the different client group experiences.
- Create effective communication and reporting tools for capturing and monitoring progress of venues (in particular the key risks and issues) in a consistent and efficient manner.
- Develop and document cross-venue planning principles that will ensure efficient, effective, optimised and coordinated planning and delivery of competition venues and villages.
- Support the Director of Venues with specific venue management projects and tasks as requested – for example, venue masterplan reviews.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a similar venue planning and subsequent Games delivery roles, supporting large scale and complex venue management programs of work.
- Previous experience working in Australian venues or events with an understanding of working with council, State and Federal government. This should include knowledge of relevant venue legislation and guidance.
- A track record of delivering all phases of venue operational planning and the challenges that may arise at each phase.
- Deep experience in event time venue operations and the interdependencies with technical aspects of venues, sport, broadcast, ceremonies, villages etc.
- Strong ability to build collaborative working relationships, both internally and with external delivery partners, whilst navigating complex stakeholder groups.
- Confidence to represent Brisbane 2032’s interests in external stakeholder and project team meetings.
- High professionalism, attention to detail and uses initiative to evaluate challenges, whilst understanding when to pass on relevant issues.
