Randstad is proud to be exclusively partnering with Intermodal Terminal Company in the search for a newly created and exciting leadership position, based at their operations in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.
Reporting to the COO, this key leadership role holds accountability for the delivery of overall terminal operations, performance and growth plans.
The Site Manager holds overarching responsibility for operational budgetary performance, leadership of workforce safety, control systems, logistics, quality, projects and terminal services. This includes the management of day-to-day operations at MIT (Melbourne Intermodal Terminal).
Primary responsibilities:
... - Mobilising and Managing all operations on site.
- Health, safety and environment: Leading ITC's safety culture to ensure the health and well-being outcomes for all staff, site contractors and visitors in line with safety vision and strategy.
- Responsible for terminal optimisation and delivery of key KPIs.
- Communicating with suppliers and customers - including Rail Companies, Freight Forwarders, Port Authorities and Beneficial Freight Owners.
- Ensuring delivery of operational plans at MIT – including delivery of operational KPIs in line with financial and operational objectives.
- Developing, implementing and reviewing business objectives and goals, and ensuring ongoing delivery of these plans moving forwards.
- Ensuring ITC’s compliance with all relevant health and safety and environmental legislation, operational standards, production planning, empty container park management and terminal functions.
- General leadership of the MIT’s Operations staff, in line with ITC’s People and Culture strategies, recruitment, selection, training, performance management and broader talent management initiatives.
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong commitment to safety, and a proactive approach to creating a zero-harm culture through planning and risk management at MIT.
- A demonstrated passion for people leadership and development.
Personal Attributes
- Demonstrated success in continually improving an assets performance and implementation of a challenging strategic direction.
- A strong focus on safety and operational decision making.
- Ability to lead a team, establish priorities, delegate responsibilities and to consistently deliver results of a very high standard.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a broad variety of stakeholders.
- Practical knowledge of terminal operations, rail and logistics industry.
- Knowledge of the principles of human resource management.
Experience
- At least 10 years experience in large logistics operation or related industry
- At least five years senior management experience in a relevant industry
