Available Bands & Key Focus Areas
Depending on your professional experience and strategic HR capability, you will be considered for roles across the following three tiers:
1. HR Business Partner – Operational / Portfolio Support (ASO5 Equivalent)
- Focus: Providing high-level day-to-day operational HR support to dedicated business units, interpreting policy, and coordinating end-to-end people workflows.
- Core Responsibilities: Providing frontline advice on recruitment processes, managing case-file administration, supporting performance management workflows, interpreting public sector determinations, and preparing accurate HR briefs or data reports.
2. HR Business Partner – Senior Advisor / Lead (ASO6 Equivalent)
- Focus: Acting as a trusted tactical partner to Line Managers and Directors, managing complex case management, and translating divisional business plans into people strategies.
- Core Responsibilities: Managing end-to-end complex employee relations (ER) and industrial relations (IR) matters, leading local change management initiatives, coaching leaders through performance/dispute resolutions, and driving workforce capability uplift.
3. Senior HR Business Partner / Strategic Consultant (ASO7 Equivalent)
- Focus: High-level strategic human resources leadership, acting as a principal advisor directly to Executive Directors and Chief Officers on organizational design and agency-wide workforce risk.
- Core Responsibilities: Directing large-scale business transformation and cultural change programs, designing strategic workforce and succession plans, drafting high-visibility executive/cabinet briefings on enterprise HR matters, and leading enterprise agreement negotiations or compliance frameworks.
What You Will Bring to the Team
To succeed in these public sector HR roles, you will possess a blend of the following competencies (benchmarked to your targeted classification tier):
- Public Sector HR Acumen: A solid understanding of the Public Sector Act 2009, SA Public Sector determinations, awards, and enterprise agreements.
- Consultative Partnering: The ability to move away from purely transactional HR to build high-trust relationships, influence leadership, and safely challenge the status quo.
- Case Management & ER Expertise: Proven experience navigating complex industrial relations, grievance resolutions, disciplinary investigations, and return-to-work frameworks.
- Strategic Problem Solving: Strong capability to analyze workforce analytics (turnover, absenteeism, capability gaps) and formulate evidence-based talent solutions.
- Qualifications: A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, Industrial Relations, or a related field is highly desirable.
