Opportunity for an experienced Financial Accountant to join the team of a NFP on the north-side. This is a Permanent Full-Time position.
You'll be a key part of the team, responsible for the end-of-month process, ownership of Balance Sheet accounts, assisting with financial reporting, ensuring financial prudential compliance, and helping prepare GST/FBT returns. You will also maintain data integrity in the general ledger, manage the fixed asset register, and provide guidance to the Finance Transactional Team as needed.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Completing and reviewing daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Preparing and reviewing monthly accounting entries, including accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, and leases.
- Assisting with GST/BAS and FBT tax returns.
- Owning all balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assisting with year-end and audit requirements.
- Helping to improve processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Assisting the Finance Manager with financial reporting, including cash flow, P&L, balance sheet, and variance analysis.
- Providing guidance and support to the Assistant Accountant and finance officers.
- Maintaining compliance with internal controls and monitoring prudential compliance.
What You'll Bring
- You are a qualified accountant with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar accounting role.
- You are CPA or CA qualified and have an intermediate level of skill with Microsoft Excel.
You will also have:
- High accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience in a not-for-profit industry (desirable).
- Experience in a shared services environment (desirable).
- Process improvement experience (desirable).
