About the Role
The Finance Officer will play a foundational role in supporting the financial operations of Brisbane 2032, contributing to the delivery of the Olympic and Paralympic Games by ensuring complete, accurate and timely financial data. As Brisbane 2032 prepares to host the world’s largest sporting and multicultural event, the Finance Officer helps ensure that financial systems and processes are robust, timely, and aligned with statutory obligations and organisational goals. The role sits in the Finance team and reports to the Manager of Financial Accounting.
This role is a fantastic opportunity for someone starting their finance career due to its broad scope and opportunities as the Brisbane 2032 team continues to expand through to 2032.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the reconciliation of corporate card transaction data and compliance with policy.
- Assist in creation of purchase orders and timely processing of invoices.
- Liaise with suppliers to resolve any billing queries or issues.
- Monitor accounts payable inbox and respond to general queries from external and internal stakeholders
- Complete financial data entry and regular reviews.
- Management of financial fixed asset register and portable and attractive asset register.
- Ad-hoc finance project work
- Demonstrate Brisbane 2032 Values and contribute to governance, transparency, and ethical standards.
Skills and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline (not essential and experience in a similar role will be considered as highly relevant).
- Collaborative team player, comfortable starting in a small, close-knit team and scaling to a large, complex team as the organisation expands.
- Highly organised, detail oriented and quality driven.
- Ability to adapt to evolving priorities.
- Able to manage time effectively and work independently.
- Ability to build strong professional relationships.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
