We are seeking a senior leader to join our team as the Fabrication Manager. This role is a pivotal position responsible for overseeing all aspects of our fabrication operations, from planning and coordination to the delivery of high-quality fabricated components for marine and civil infrastructure projects. You will report to the Asset Manager and be accountable for aligning all fabrication outputs with project schedules, safety standards, and commercial goals. This position is also responsible for driving business development for the fabrication division, ensuring growth, innovation, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership: Oversee daily operations, including workshop planning, staff allocation, and resource scheduling. Lead and manage fabrication teams, including supervisors, boilermakers, welders, and apprentices.
Project & Commercial Management: Collaborate with project managers to plan and execute fabrication works. Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resource usage to ensure financial targets are met.
HSQE: Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with WHS legislation and company procedures. Lead safety meetings, audits, and toolbox talks, while also promoting environmental best practices
Business Development: Identify new fabrication opportunities, support tender submissions, and develop relationships with clients to grow the fabrication portfolio.
Team Leadership: Mentor and provide performance feedback to team members, while also supporting recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning.
Skills, Experience, & Knowledge
Minimum 8 years of experience in fabrication, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
Expert knowledge of structural steel, aluminum, and stainless-steel fabrication.
Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage fabrication workflows effectively.
High-level project coordination and planning skills with a strong focus on commercial outcomes.
Strong business acumen, including estimating, cost control, and strategic planning abilities.
Proficiency in MS Office and fabrication management software.
A trade qualification in metal fabrication, welding, or boiler-making is mandatory.
Additional technical qualifications, such as a Diploma in Engineering or Project Management, are highly desirable.
Must possess a C-Class Driver’s Licence, National Police Check, and a current White Card.
Out of hours work and regional travel may be required on occasion.
