ELECTRICAL PLANNER - FIXED PLANT (MINING)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Planner to join our Maintenance team at a remote mine site. This critical role is responsible for the detailed planning, scheduling, and coordination of all electrical maintenance activities for fixed plant infrastructure to maximize operational uptime and ensure safety compliance.
Key Details
- Roster: 15 days on / 13 days off
- Remuneration: $95+ per hour
- Arrangement: Fly-In/Fly-Out (FIFO) from Darwin to Site (Mining)
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance Planning and Scheduling: Develop, detail, and optimize both weekly and shutdown maintenance plans and schedules for fixed plant electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Shutdown Coordination: Schedule shutdown activities and manage the delivery to plan, including setting up shutdown schedules in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or Microsoft Project.
- Work Preparation: Create ready-to-execute job packages by defining work scopes, identifying required labor, skills, tools, special equipment, and parts, and building or maintaining the Bill of Materials/kitting.
- Resource Coordination: Liaise with the Supply Chain or Procurement Department to ensure timely availability and coordination of all necessary parts and critical spares prior to work execution.
- System Management: Administer and maintain the CMMS (e.g., SAP, Ellipse) for accurate equipment maintenance history, work orders, and technical data.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a key contact and liaison between the Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering teams to align maintenance activities with production schedules and operational priorities.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure all maintenance plans and work packages comply with all applicable safety standards, site policies, and regulatory requirements (e.g., OHS).
- Performance and Improvement: Generate reports on maintenance performance, key metrics (KPIs), and budget adherence. Provide technical support and assist in root cause analysis (RCA) for electrical equipment breakdowns.
- Long-Term Strategy: Support the development of long-term maintenance strategies for all fixed plant assets to enhance reliability and execution ability.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Essential:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Maintenance Planning, Scheduling, or Supervisory role within a heavy industrial or mining environment.
- Demonstrated experience with maintenance planning for fixed plant assets (e.g., Ball Mills, Crushers, Conveyors, Pumps, Screens, Substations).
- Trade Qualification (e.g., Certified Electrician) or Post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a relevant discipline.
- Strong knowledge of mining electrical systems, low/medium voltage distribution, PLCs, VFDs, and the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
- Proficiency in using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as SAP or Ellipse.
Desired:
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel) and scheduling software (e.g., Microsoft Project).
- Proven ability to work autonomously, demonstrate strong communication skills, and manage cross-functional relationships.
- Experience in developing and updating maintenance strategies and plans.
- Understanding of Asset Management concepts.
