In this dynamic role, you will lead the delivery and implementation of vital reform projects aligned with the wider reform program. You will be responsible for managing complex policy issues, analyzing data to provide evidence-based recommendations, and leading a high-performing team of staff and contractors to deliver top-tier government documents.
As a key leader, you will build and maintain crucial relationships with internal and external stakeholders, representing the organisation’s interests across a range of strategic forums.
Key Responsibilities
- Project & Policy Leadership: Lead the analysis, development, and implementation of strategic policy and reform projects within a complex and changing environment.
- People Management: Provide strong leadership, planning, resource management, and decision-making for your team and assigned contractors, fostering a positive culture.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Identify, build, and actively manage key stakeholder relationships, using your influence to negotiate practical policy solutions.
- Data & Risk Analysis: Collect and analyze data to inform high-level advice, while applying sound judgement to evaluate risks and manage sensitive issues.
- Government Writing: Lead the development, preparation, and review of high-quality policy papers, reports, briefings, presentations, and corporate documents for a government audience.

- Demonstrated experience leading public sector teams to deliver reform policies, projects, or programs.
- Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills, with a track record of using data to inform advice.
- Outstanding communication and writing skills tailored for a government audience.
- Proven capability to build strong stakeholder relationships and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Strong governance skills and the ability to apply sound judgement to highly complex issues.
Desirable Criteria:
- Knowledge of the disability sector.
- Practical experience working with legislation.
- Understanding of Commonwealth procurement rules and strategic commissioning.
Qualifications & Working Conditions
- Qualifications: A relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in lieu of formal qualifications.
- Systems: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard business applications is essential.
