The role: EL1 Project Manager

Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: 12 months with possible 6 months extension
Pay: $75/hr to $90/hr excluding superannuation

Role responsibilities:
- Responsible for creation of key project documents such as Project Management Plan (PMP), Schedule, Project Variation Request (PVR) (if necessary), Closure Report, etc Responsible for monitoring and reporting risks, schedule, budget, scope, issues and progress etc. to the relevant committee/s
- Responsible for identifying and engaging stakeholders
- Responsible for coordinating training and communications
- Development of monthly Project Progress Status Reports
- Accountable for ensuring that the project achieves agreed set outcomes
- Manage change control and implementation of project outputs
- Manage stakeholder relationships through formal specification and agreement of expectations, goals, objectives, scope, outputs, measures for benefits, resources required, budget, schedule, project structure, roles and responsibilities.
- Manage at the program level, in line with the responsibilities outlined for Project Managers
- Development and maintenance of the Program Plan and Program Schedule
- Resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate
- Managing both the dependencies and the interfaces between projects
- Negotiating scope and schedule adjustments within the program governance structure for increased program efficiency
- Monitors program progress and ensures that the delivery of the projects is to the appropriate levels of quality, on time and within budget, in accordance with the Project Plans and program governance arrangements
- Specifically responsible to support enterprise level critical projects and the co-ordination of these across the portfolio of enterprise projects.
- Responsible to support and take direction from the Director of Change and Project Management within the Department.
Key Capabilities & Skills:
- An ability to support the portfolio/program view and to deliver project management operation capability.
- Excellent stakeholder skills and experience in a fast paced APS environment (preferably a regulator) is critical to the success of this role.
- Writing and communicating clearly to a high standard, in particular, the ability to write clearly and concisely about complex subject matters, including to general audiences on technical subjects.
- Showing initiative and demonstrating a resourcefulness to work both independently and collaboratively within a high-pressure environment, supporting a team with high workloads.
- The ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders, in both formal and informal settings, demonstrating well-developed interpersonal and oral communication skills.
