Are you a senior economist or policy professional who wants to make an impact on a national scale by reviewing and safeguarding the economic frameworks that underpin this federal government agency?
I am currently partnering with a key client in the disability sector with an exciting and specialised role for an EL1 Assistant Director Strategic Pricing. This is a critical role within the Economics and Pricing Branch of the Markets Division, where you will lead work to deliver economic research and analysis that supports evidence-based decision-making on complex pricing policy.
About the Opportunity
As the Assistant Director Strategic Pricing, you will join the Strategic Pricing Advisory team on a quest to address the unique challenges of the care economy. You will play a vital role in managing provider markets, engaging in both theoretical and practical policy considerations to improve the functioning of the Scheme for its participants. Your work will have a major impact on the allocation of Scheme resources, which are projected to grow significantly by FY27-28.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Economic Research: Deliver robust economic research and analysis to support evidence-based decisions on complex pricing policies.
- Modelling & Analysis: Apply statistical and economic modelling and research methods to large datasets to understand and improve the agency’s market performance.
- Policy Development: Develop robust pricing frameworks and lead the Annual Pricing Review to ensure price limits and market settings are strategic and fit for purpose.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Consult broadly with stakeholders, experts, and academics to fill information gaps, test new solutions, and build a shared understanding of priorities.
- Market Stewardship: Monitor provider behaviour and market performance to ensure pricing remains fair, transparent, and sustainable across the Scheme.
Ideally you will possess:
- Strategic & Analytical Mindset: Superior problem-solving skills applied to complex quantitative and qualitative economic issues.
- Technical Proficiency: A quantitative mindset with the technical skills to handle large datasets and communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.
- Collaborative Leadership: The ability to work effectively within a team and build strong relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
