A large National subcontractor in engineered timber flooring is seeking a talented new member, to their Estimating team. You will be working in a team of like minded individuals pricing projects and liaising very closely with International fabricators, wholesalers and head contracting builders. If you are an ambitious Design Estimator with experience reading designs and pricing on engineered floor systems, this role is for you.
The Role:
With high commercial acumen, excellent negotiation skills and a sheer passion for your work you will be required to work well autonomously, but also well within a team, communicating effectively with the Fabricators, Builders, Wholesalers and internal team.
Your experience will have been gained working for a similar engineering flooring subcontractor.
Ideal applicants:
- Previous experience gained from a timber flooring competitor, to receive the plans from the builders (design brief) and liaise with the fabricators to check the designs comply with BCA standards and design specifications.
- Track record with winning engineered timber flooring projects.
- Need to be able to price and read designs for economical floor systems.
- 3 years experience, estimating for a similar subcontractor.
- Good knowledge of local fabricators, wholesalers and timber engineered flooring systems.
- Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or TAFE in Building.
- Proactive / positive attitude to work, and peers
- Well presented & excellent communicator / negotiator.
- Thorough understanding of construction methods and standards for tender submission.
- Ability to make specific cost savings to the business.
- Confidant in mentoring junior estimators.
- Ability to communicate and handover tender strategy to relevant parties
