Randstad is seeking dedicated individuals to join our standby list for AO4 Community Recovery Worker roles. In the unfortunate event of a natural disaster (such as floods, fires, cyclones, or disease outbreaks), you would be available to mobilise immediately to provide crucial assistance to affected Gold Coast communities.
Please Note: This is an expression of interest for a standby role. No activation is currently predicted, but we are building a vital list of workers who can start with little-to-no notice should an event occur.
About the Role
As a Community Recovery worker, the core purpose is to provide crucial practical assistance and essential emotional support to individuals and families coping with significantly distressing times. . The work is fast-paced and operationally fluid, which means candidates must possess significant resilience and adaptability and be ready to engage with the constant uncertainty inherent in disaster response. You must be available to work across a 7-day roster (5 days on/2 days off), including weekends and evenings, as shift demands and roster patterns will change frequently based on the constantly evolving operational needs of the disaster response. Positions are located throughout the Gold Coast, requiring access to your own transport and the ability to travel between various hub locations. This AO4 position pays $59.16 per hour plus super.

... - Provide high levels of community interaction, offering essential human and social support to affected individuals and families.
- Provide practical assistance as needed, including general support tasks to help maintain a welcoming and supportive environment.
- Assist with administrative support, including grant assessments, application processing, data entry, and inbox management.
- Act as a key customer service and community liaison representative.
What We’re Looking For
- Must be available immediately and be able to start the same or next day, if required.
- Must be willing to work across a 7-day roster (5 days on and 2 days off), including mornings, evenings, and weekends if required.
- Must be able to satisfy the requirements of a Criminal History Check.
- Must have access to your own transport and be available to travel between various hub locations across the Gold Coast.
- Must demonstrate resilience, empathy, and flexibility.
- Must have good emotional regulation and control in stressful situations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Be able to work in a team environment, comfortable with seeking support from others if required, and participating in regular debriefs
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
