Shape the future of Australian Freight & Infrastructure
Backed by a Major Global Infrastructure Investor
Competitive Salary + Flexible Work | Based in Melbourne’s North
The Opportunity
Are you a commercial leader ready to make a tangible impact on Australia’s supply chain? We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive the commercial success of the largest intermodal freight terminal ever built in Australia.
Located in Melbourne’s north, this flagship facility is at the forefront of a massive "road-to-rail" shift. Backed by one of the country’s largest infrastructure investors, this is a rare opportunity to join a well-funded, ESG-aligned organization at a critical early growth phase.
The Role
This is a high-visibility, customer-facing role responsible for securing and managing long-term commercial relationships across the rail, logistics, and freight forwarding sectors. You won’t just be selling a service; you will be defining the long-term commercial model for a nation-building infrastructure project.
Key Responsibilities:
Drive Growth: Identify and secure high-value partnerships with key players in the logistics and transport sectors.
Negotiate: Lead complex commercial negotiations and execute long-term contracts.
Strategic Onboarding: Collaborate with terminal operations to ensure a seamless transition for new clients.
Market Insight: Act as a subject matter expert on market dynamics to inform long-term terminal strategy.
ESG Impact: Play a lead role in the environmental mission to reduce carbon emissions by shifting freight from road to rail.
About You
You thrive in "greenfield" environments where you can build things from the ground up. You are as comfortable discussing operational logistics as you are negotiating in a boardroom.
Skills & Experience:
Proven Track Record: Experience in Business Development or Account Management within freight, rail, port infrastructure, or 3PL logistics.
Commercial Acumen: Strong ability to negotiate complex, high-stakes contracts and manage long sales cycles.
Stakeholder Management: Confident engaging with senior decision-makers across the logistics industry.
Entrepreneurial Spirit: You enjoy autonomy and are motivated by the challenge of a ramping-up operation.
Why Join?
Sustainability: Be part of a genuine ESG success story that is actively taking trucks off the road.
Stability: Enjoy the backing of a major institutional investor with a long-term vision.
Growth: Lead the commercial direction of a flagship site with the potential for national career progression.
Flexibility: Balance your time between our state-of-the-art terminal, working from home, and being out on the road with clients.
