Civil Work Maintenance Engineer
- $75 - $ 78 per hour + superannuation
- Based in Noosa
- 3 month contract - extensions may apply
Responsibilities:
- Supervising the Civil Works and Maintenance team by providing leadership, support and guidance to team members to create a positive work culture
- Actively monitor, review, refine and improve work practices and the quality-of-service delivery to ensure compliance with agreed cost, service standards and time parameters.
- Delivery of minor capital works projects that can be undertaken within the existing Maintenance crew/s.
- Maintain high customer service focus and provide technical advice relating to customer requests and communicating this advice to the public and elected members with a professional approach.
- Prepare planning documents and undertake the annual budget submissions related to delivery of works services.
- Provide advice to the Manager or delegated officer as applicable including regular, timely and accurate reporting on performance (financial and non-financial) and on the status of projects and activities.
- Undertake the development of quotation/tender documentation, evaluate submissions and manage the delivery of accepted contracts and negotiate with suppliers and sub-contractors to maximise service delivery.
- Take a lead role in managing after hours and emergency response, pertaining to operational matters across the region. Participate in the after-hours operations response as required.
- Undertake a leadership role in the response to any Disaster Management event
- Ensure adequate control measures are in place and ensure work sites are maintained and conform to current Environmental Standards and Safety Management System.
- Identify areas of risk and contribute to the development and implementation of a Risk Reduction

Requirements:
- Extensive relevant experience and knowledge in maintenance and minor construction of public infrastructure including roads, drainage, and the application of contemporary principles, practices and methods.
- Proven ability to performance manages, develop and motivate staff operating in a maintenance environment.
- Ability to plan, schedule, prioritise and organise work to achieve goals and meet deadlines including dealing with competing demands and managing multiple projects and tasks.
- Proven success in coordinating maintenance programs (including resource management) and monitoring project costs (including variations and claims) to deliver outcomes within agreed budget parameters.
- Well-developed research, analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated record of achievement in managing change.
- This role requires the occupant to be available to respond to afterhours emergencies and be an active member of the Disaster Management team
- Demonstrated computer literacy skills.
Qualifications, Training and Licences
- Recognised tertiary qualifications in civil maintenance & construction, civil engineering, overseer’s qualification or equivalent competency achieved through extensive experience.
- Possession of WH&S Competency Card for CPCCOHS1001A – Work Safely in the Construction Industry or 30215QLD – Course in General Safety Induction (Construction Industry), or a willingness to obtain this card before commencement.
- Driver’s Licence – “C” class.
- Hold or have the ability to obtain a Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) or has accreditation of Engineers Australia’s National Engineering Register (NER). (Desirable)
- Asset Management or Maintenance Planning Qualifications.(Desirable)
