With an already healthy and consistent pipeline of work, we require a driven project leader to work in close partnership with clients in government bodies and tier one principal contractors. This role offers the opportunity to drive interesting projects to completion while enjoying the work-life benefits of a major regional centre.
The Role and Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the construction manager you will drive the successful execution of civil packages, with the following responsibilities:
Commercial Management: Ownership of the project budget, financial forecasting, timely submission of claims, and proactive management of variations and contractual risk.
Tier One Client Interface: Serving as the primary point of contact for the Principal Contractor and key stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, successful coordination, and adherence to established protocols.
Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensuring all works meet stringent Defence specifications, quality parameters, and industry safety standards (WHS). Prior experience navigating high-compliance environments is essential.
Project Leadership: Leading, mentoring, and managing the site team (Site Engineers, Supervisors, HSEQ staff) to create a high performing and safe site culture.
Program Delivery: Developing, monitoring, and driving the project schedule to ensure key milestones and practical completion dates are achieved.
Ideal Candidate Criteria you will bring
The ideal candidate will possess a history of managing complex civil works, demonstrating strong leadership and commercial acumen:
Experience: A minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager delivering complex civil infrastructure projects (roads, bulk earthworks, utilities, major subdivisions).
Defence/High-Compliance Background: Demonstrated experience managing projects within the Defence, Mining, Oil & Gas, or similar high-compliance regulatory environments.
Commercial Aptitude: Exceptional skills in contract administration (e.g., AS4000/AS4902), financial reporting, and managing commercial risk.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is mandatory.
Location: Willingness to live and work long-term in the Wagga Wagga region, supporting the project's duration, with works locked in for the next 8 months and upcoming projects, we are seeking local talent (no DIDO options available)
