Your Tasks
As the Childcare Chef/Cook, your key responsibilities will include:
Preparing and cooking a range of fresh, healthy, and culturally diverse meals and snacks daily, including breakfast, morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea.
Meticulously managing and catering to children's individual dietary requirements, allergies, and intolerances (e.g., gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, anaphylaxis plans).
Maintaining the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in the kitchen and food storage areas, complying with all relevant health regulations.
Managing kitchen inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining accurate records to ensure efficient stock rotation and minimise waste.
Ensuring all kitchen equipment is clean, well-maintained, and in good working order.
Working collaboratively with centre staff to understand children's preferences and special requirements.
Managing the kitchen budget effectively, sourcing quality ingredients at competitive prices.
Maintaining accurate records of food production, temperatures, and cleaning schedules.
Your Skills
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
Excellent cooking skills and the ability to manage a kitchen.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Reliable, responsible, and proactive, with a genuine passion for working with children and providing healthy food.
Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
Strong understanding of child nutrition, food allergies, and safe food handling practices.
Your Qualifications
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following qualifications:
Proven experience in a kitchen environment; previous experience in a childcare, school, or aged care setting is highly regarded but not essential.
Valid Working With Children Check (WWCC).
Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
Food Handling Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
Full working rights in Australia (no sponsorship available).
