Position Overview
The APS6 Technical Advisory role provides high-level technical, professional, policy and operational support in complex matters. This includes advising on practice standards, contributing to strategic planning, and supporting initiatives that enable the delivery of disability and support services at a national standard.
The role may involve leading teams, setting priorities, and managing workflows while ensuring consistent interpretation of policy and legislation. You will work with autonomy and be expected to exercise sound judgment and initiative in decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Provide expert, evidence-informed advice using a coaching and mentoring approach to support decision-making and promote quality participant outcomes.
Manage complex and sensitive conversations, particularly regarding approval and delivery of supports.
Engage with stakeholders, partners, and providers to ensure consistent, outcome-focused support planning and service delivery.
Prepare high-quality written reports, recommendations, and telephone-based advice.
Interpret and apply relevant legislation, policy, and operational procedures.
Collaborate in strategic planning, program management, and project work, as required.
Contribute to a positive, solutions-focused team culture.
Essential Criteria
Candidates must hold recognised qualifications (degree, diploma, or equivalent) in one of the following disciplines:
Occupational Therapy
Physiotherapy
Prosthetics and Orthotics
Speech Pathology
Psychology
Registered Nursing (eligible for AHPRA registration)
Social Work
Mental Health Practice
Specialist Behavioural Support
Medico-Legal Allied Health
Desirable Criteria
Experience in disability, hospital, or aged care settings
Demonstrated leadership experience
High-level communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
Role Requirements
Ability to work in an open-plan and hot-desking office environment, with occasional work-from-home arrangements
Comfortable with prolonged periods of computer/screen-based tasks
Proficient in Microsoft Office and business software (e.g., CRM systems)
Ability to undertake off-site visits and external engagements
Flexibility to manage competing priorities and adapt to changing operational requirements
Capacity to work alongside assistance animals in the workplace
Security and Compliance Checks
Working with Children Check (valid in relevant state/territory)
NDIS Worker Screening Check
Pre-Engagement Security Check (mandatory for all contractors)
AGSVA clearance (where applicable)
