... About the Role
We are seeking an APS6 Policy Officer to join a federal government agency focused on leading hospital pricing policy. You will work in a collaborative team that engages closely with jurisdictional and technical stakeholders to support the development of nationally consistent funding models. The team also plays a key role in aligning pricing strategies with broader health policy reforms and system-wide improvements.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Support Policy Managers and Directors in delivering the agency’s strategic plans, work program objectives, and corporate goals.
- Contribute to high impact policy projects and documents, including:
- National Pricing Frameworks for public hospital services
- National Efficient Price and Cost Determinations
- Public hospital data sharing processes for research purposes
- Collaborate with internal technical and research teams on cross-agency initiatives focused on healthcare pricing and system reform.
- Draft high-quality briefs, ministerial submissions, committee papers, and formal correspondence.
- Conduct research and analysis to support evidence-based policy development.
- Assist with administrative tasks, procurement processes, and other ad hoc projects as required.

- Be highly organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.
- Demonstrate strong analytic and research skills to support robust policy development.
- Communicate clearly and persuasively across a variety of audiences, both written and verbal.
- Work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Apply sound judgement when interpreting complex technical and legislative materials.
- Have a deep understanding of hospital funding policy and national reform frameworks.
