About the Role
Our client are a well-known Federal government agency, and a world-leading funding scheme that supports and improves the lives of people who live with a disability. They are currently seeking an APS5 Project Officer and Insights to come in and join their team in Surry Hills NSW on a 12 month contract assignment with potential for extension.
Candidates for this position will ideally have at least 1-2 years’ Project Management experience, Government administration & writing experience including coordinating, drafting, editing a range of agency documentation, and well-developed communication skills and ability to work well with stakeholders and manage expectations.
As a Project Officer you will be accountable for organising workflow and making independent decisions relating to an area of responsibility. The position will be required to provide policy advice within an area of specialisation with advice based on policies and legislation.
The position will have a considerable level of contact with internal and external stakeholders and will be required to communicate with and provide advice on a range of matters to resolve moderately complex to complex enquiries.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in project management and coordination activities, monitoring and reviewing program and project activities against plans.
- Contributing to the development and management of project plans and schedules in accordance with the Agency’s project management framework.
- Providing advice, procedural guidance and technical expertise in specific areas of project work.
- Performing research work and analysis including contributing to the preparation of reports on relevant project activities.
- Contributing to regular project reporting including status updates and exception reports.
- Drafting a range of written material including business cases, plans, executive briefs and corporate documentation for review.
- Assisting with monitoring project budgets, review and report on expenditure and assist with procurement and contract management.
- Assisting with the identification and management of project risks, issues and benefits.
About the Team
- Performance, Quality and National Workload Management branch influences high-quality end-to-end participant experience through delivery of reporting and insights of the business’ work in the areas of continuous improvement, quality, performance, sustainability, workload and workforce management.
- The branch reviews the consistency and quality of operational activities against standards, procedures and practices across the end-to-end participant value chain, and they lead the Sustainability Initiative and the Frontline Services Performance Model.
About You
You will be an experienced Project Officer with proven experience and reliability in previous positions:
The successful candidates will possess:
- Australian Citizenship
- Government administration & writing experience including coordinating, drafting, editing a range of agency documentation
- At least 2 years project management experience or government or the social services field
- Well-developed communication skills and ability to work well with stakeholders and manage expectations
- Conceptual and analytical skills and the ability to succinctly explain complex issues.
- Accessing, understanding and presenting data around key agency metrics and reporting
