As an Actuary, you'll play a crucial role in helping the federal government department achieve its goal of building a world-leading Scheme. You'll be part of a team and may also have the opportunity to take on leadership responsibilities, including setting priorities and delegating work.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Data Management, Extracting, cleansing, and preparing data from multiple sources, particularly the data warehouse, and advising on appropriate data checks for reasonableness.
- Updating and developing regular performance monitoring processes.
- Supporting the Scheme Actuary Division to fulfill the statutory requirements of the agency by providing data and analysis for reporting to the Board, the Minister, and for the purpose of public data sharing.
- Utilising statistical and mathematical modeling techniques to undertake analytical work on a range of tasks, including actuarial monitoring, data tabulations, scheme projects, and cost-benefit analyses.
- Ad-hoc Requests, Undertaking ad-hoc modeling requests and producing reports.
- Effectively communicating (verbally and in writing) the progress of work responsibilities and the outcomes of work undertaken.
Your profile will demonstrate:
- Skills in data extraction, cleansing, and preparation, likely from large-scale data sources like a data warehouse. This includes a critical eye for data quality, as evidenced by the need to "advise on appropriate data checks for reasonableness
- A strong understanding and application of statistical and mathematical modeling techniques for tasks such as actuarial monitoring, cost-benefit analyses, and data tabulations.
- The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to report on work progress and the outcomes of analyses. This is crucial for collaborating within the team and with other divisions.
