Position Description

• As an APS3 Security Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring a safe and secure environment for staff and visitors, enabling the organization to lead efforts in improving the lives of First Nations people. This role requires a proactive individual who can balance strict security protocols with a high level of cultural sensitivity and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

• Access Control: Managing building entry points, verifying identification, and issuing visitor passes to ensure only authorized personnel enter the premises.
• Surveillance & Patrolling: Conducting regular floor walks and monitoring CCTV systems to identify and report any security breaches or safety hazards.
• Incident Response: Acting as a first responder to security alarms or emergencies, following established protocols to de-escalate situations.
• Administrative Support: Maintaining accurate security logs, processing security clearance paperwork, and managing physical assets such as keys and access cards.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Providing exceptional customer service to staff and visitors while maintaining a firm commitment to security policy.

• Integrity and Reliability: A proven track record of maintaining confidentiality and
• following strict procedural guidelines.
• Communication Skills: The ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with people
• from diverse backgrounds, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
• Situational Awareness: Strong observational skills and the ability to remain calm and
• decisive under pressure.
• Technical Aptitude: Proficiency in using standard office software (Microsoft Suite) and the ability to learn specialized security monitoring systems.
