Randstad is currently seeking expressions of interest for an experienced Finance Officer with a strong background in financial operations to join a State Government Department on the Gold Coast.
This is a full-time temporary assignment for approximately 3 months, with the potential for extension. The role is classified at the AO4 level and offers an hourly casual rate of $59.16 to $64.87 plus superannuation. Based in Southport and working Monday to Friday, this is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a State Government Department and play a key role in financial operations.
As the Finance Officer, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Preparing accounts payable documentation and responding to internal and external stakeholder and vendor enquiries regarding payments.
- Assisting with raising purchase orders for the finance team and other district services as required.
- Preparing and processing month-end journals, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Undertaking various projects and generating reports related to finance and financial analysis.
- Assisting with accounts receivable and revenue processes, including end-of-month reconciliations.
- Applying fundamental principles of basic accounting, including preparing and posting journal entries, and maintaining ledgers.
- Assisting with financial planning and analysis, including preparing budgets, conducting variance analysis, and developing financial reports.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience in a finance officer or similar role.
- Experience in a fast-paced environment with complex billing and payment processes, such as health, insurance, or a large public sector organisation.
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end processes.
- Experienced in financial forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
- Confident using financial systems and Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
- Proficient in developing financial reports, conducting insightful analysis of financial performance, and using financial modeling to support strategic decision-making.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive mindset and the ability to problem-solve and manage competing priorities.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
