This is a leadership opportunity suited to a communications professional with strong experience in stakeholder engagement, campaign delivery, and community education. The role is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of strategic communications and engagement activities across Queensland, targeting both internal and external audiences.
Reporting to the Director of Strategic Engagement and Community Education, the successful candidate will manage a team of up to 7 and work collaboratively with senior executives, government departments, advocacy bodies, and community organisations to deliver meaningful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead a team responsible for communications, digital content, public relations, community engagement, and education initiatives.
Plan, implement, and evaluate targeted campaigns that support the organisation’s strategic objectives.
Build and manage relationships with government, peak bodies, and community stakeholders.
Develop and maintain policies and frameworks for communications, engagement, events, and marketing.
Provide strategic advice to senior leaders and contribute to planning and performance reporting.
Monitor emerging trends and apply best practices in communications and engagement.
Manage budgets, team performance, and ensure alignment with governance and reporting standards.
Key Requirements
Proven leadership experience in a communications, engagement, or public affairs role—ideally within government or a large, complex organisation.
Strong background in stakeholder engagement and campaign delivery at a state or national level.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including government and digital content writing.
Demonstrated ability to manage teams, projects, and budgets effectively.
Experience developing strategies and policies that support engagement and community education.
Knowledge of public sector governance and reporting processes.
Ability to travel within Queensland as required.
