The Role: Precision Maintenance & Assembly
Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you will be responsible for the accurate disassembly, inspection, repair, reassembly, and testing of highly engineered mechanical and rail components.
Key Responsibilities:
Service & Repair: Execute precision strip-downs, fault-finding, maintenance, and comprehensive repairs of complex rail components according to stringent technical specifications and engineering drawings.
Precision Fitting: Perform detailed fitting and assembly work, ensuring extremely tight tolerances are met for safety-critical parts.
Quality & Testing: Conduct rigorous functional and diagnostic testing on assembled components to ensure they meet operational, safety, and quality standards before deployment.
Troubleshooting: Apply advanced diagnostic skills to identify root causes of component failure and implement effective solutions.
Documentation: Accurately complete service reports, quality checks, and maintenance documentation to ensure full compliance and traceability.
Safety & Compliance: Maintain a proactive approach to workplace health and safety, adhering to all company and industry regulations.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Trade Qualification: Recognised Australian Mechanical Fitter Trade Certificate or equivalent relevant qualification/experience as a Service Technician
Workshop Experience: Proven experience in a heavy industrial, manufacturing, or specialised service workshop environment (e.g., rail, aerospace, automotive heavy vehicle)
Technical Proficiency: Strong mechanical aptitude, including the ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals
Hands on Experience: Strip down, repair, rebuild, and rigorously test major product lines, including air compressors, brake calipers, pantographs, and other essential control valve components
Tools & Equipment: Competence in using precision measuring instruments (micrometres, calipers, gauges) and specialised workshop tools
Diagnostic Skills: Demonstrated ability to perform effective fault diagnosis and component testing
Commitment to Quality: An uncompromising eye for detail and a commitment to completing tasks with accuracy and precision
