This is a Band 7 role offering a competitive salary of $112,394.10 – $125,914.28 + Super, designed for a professional who thrives on balancing legislative rigor with high-level stakeholder engagement.
The Opportunity
In this pivotal role, you will oversee the performance and compliance of essential waste management contracts. You won't just be monitoring metrics; you’ll be the lead architect for governance programs that ensure the community receives high-standard, sustainable services.
Key Responsibilities
- Contract Leadership: Manage waste contracts to ensure all parties meet their obligations, driving continuous improvement through detailed performance insights.
- Compliance & Governance: Formulate and implement strategies to meet obligations under the Environment Protection Act 2017 and Circular Economy Act 2021.
- Auditing & Risk: Lead performance audits for service delivery and manage environmental compliance for closed landfills and recovered materials.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a key liaison between internal departments, government bodies, and external contractors to foster win-win outcomes.
- Strategic Support: Assist in the development and review of future waste management contracts and operational procedures.
What You Bring
- Qualifications: A Degree or Diploma in Waste Management, Environmental Science, Law, Compliance, or a related field (or equivalent extensive experience).
- Expertise: Strong knowledge of waste-related legislation and proven experience in contract management.
- Analytical Skills: The ability to research, interpret, and apply complex standards and policies to real-world operations.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate and engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Compliance Ready: A valid Driver’s Licence, National Police Check, and Working with Children Check.
