In this VPS5 role, you will lead operational relief and recovery coordination planning, ensuring that local communities remain at the heart of all recovery activities. This is a full-time, 12-week (3-month) contract following a Monday–Friday schedule.
The role: As a Senior Regional Planning Officer, you will be an integral member of a regional team, driving planning and operations across regional and state-level priorities. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining working from home with essential travel across the Geelong (Barwon South West) and Grampians regions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Planning: Coordinate operational relief and recovery planning during and after emergency events.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Forge strong connections across government agencies and councils to facilitate a partnership approach.
- Issue Management: Identify and resolve emerging risks and complex issues in accordance with emergency management governance.
- Strategic Reporting: Prepare high-quality operational reports for executives and provide expert advice on contentious business matters.
- Operational Support: Support the design and delivery of objectives that impact localized service delivery and community expectations.

- Planning & Writing: Exceptional report writing skills and the ability to translate strategic direction into actionable team plans.

- Interpersonal Impact: A "trusted relationship builder" with the ability to navigate differences of opinion and communicate with credibility.
- Mobility: A valid Victorian Driver’s Licence is mandatory. You must be willing to travel regularly across the region.
